After summer adventures with family on the east and west coast, we returned to Abu Dhabi for our second year. Fall is incredibly hot here, so we have been mostly engaging in fun indoor activities like solving Rubik’s cubes and playing games or cooling off at the pool. Mila is taking part in the school play, Aladdin, as an Agrabahn. Simon is coaching Varsity Boys Volleyball, and Alden is participating in a Speech and Debate team.

Mila celebrated her 9th birthday with friends at a pool party. The kids played a lot of fun games in the pool together, played on the nearby playground, and ate a poolside meal and cake. Two green parrots were hanging out in the tree next to our party space.

We took a family trip to Dubai to visit the Burj Khalifa. We had looked up at the skyscraper from the outside but had yet to journey up to the observation decks on the 124th and 125th floors. In 2010 (the year of Alden’s birth), the Burj Khalifa became the tallest building in the world. After a 1-minute elevator ride, we emerged on the 124th floor where we went out onto the observation decks for some great views.

We just returned from our midterm break (blog post coming soon) and are relieved that it’s starting to “cool off” to the low/mid 90s! Winter is coming 🤞
Love hearing about your travels. Joanne

I’m so impressed by Alden’s rubikscubing (that’s a verb I believe)! Looks like Mila had a fun birthday party!

The experiences your children are getting is incredible. I was impressed with the Empire State Building in 1964. 🙂
